General Roleplaying Rules

These rules apply to the Roleplaying Forum, and may or may not include rules stated in the General Forum Rules, or the Terms of Service. If they are not, stated in this thread. They are still however, active rules as they apply to every forum.

1. Nothing explicit.

2. Do not harrass other users for their ability to roleplay, or their ability to type. If you would like only a certain level of experienced roleplayers, please state so in your own Thread's Rules. This will help those that believe that they are unable to keep up with your expectations able to stay clear of such roleplays. Aswell as harrasment in general.

3. If asked by the threads creator, moderator, or administrator to leave the thread. Please do so. Not complying with a request to leave is considered harrasment.

Suggestions to Improve Your Ability

These are simply suggestions for those that wish to improve their abilities as a roleplayer

So you'd like to improve your ability to roleplay? Follow these simple guidelines, and you're well on your way to being a respected roleplayer.

1. Do not godmode. What is godmoding? It where a character, or roleplayer, acts as though they are omnipotent. Thus the term, godmode. This rule is commonly found in roleplays. Examples of godmoding are things such as.
Automatically hitting someone.
Automatically defending either yourself, or someone else.
Knowing things that you should, as the roleplay goes, not yet know.

There are many other examples of godmoding too.  Need some help? Just in, OOC, ((Out of Character)) ask someone to help you understand whether or not your post would be considered godmoding, and why.

2. Do not powerplay. What is powerplaying? It is similar to godmoding. But revolves more so around fight based roleplays, or roleplays that somewhere include fighting. Similar examples to godmoding.
Automatically hitting someone.
Automatically killing someone.
Automatically defending either yourself, or someone else.

As for godmoding, if you need help. Just ask someone to help you understand if your post is considered powerplaying, and why.

3. Understand the difference between, IC (In Character) and OOC (Out of Character.)
Out of character, is basically talking as though you were yourself. You can let people know you are speaking out of character, by either including some sort of indicating symbols. Most commonly used, putting all OOC things inside paranthesis. Or simply by putting OOC:, infront of something that you want to say Out of Character.
In Character, is something very crucial to roleplay. It's exactly what roleplay is. Being in character. When in Character, you should always type in third person. That way, everyone knows who you are, and it's not confusing.
